Dear Readers:

Being a February spotlight author at Romance Reader At Heart is an absolute thrill for me. Aside from RRAH being one of the most successful romance sites available on the web, what more appropriate month to celebrate romance than February - the one month that dedicates an entire day to LOVE?

Ah, yes, (sighing happily here.) How we women do always look forward to February 14th. However, have you ever stopped to think about the sheer magic that surrounds Saint Valentine’s Day?

A dang phenomenon, is what it is!

Valentine’s Day is the one day each year when MEN actually get caught up in a romantic frenzy. Guys come out of the woodwork from every direction - from important executives in suits and ties, to the regular Joe in his dirty work clothes. You can find them at Hallmark and any other store that has a card section - elbowing each other out of the way like little boys on the football field or basketball court. They study heart-shaped boxes of candy with the same scrutiny they give to that winning putt on the golf course. They splurge for top-dollar roses - even though it means digging into their guys-night-out poker money. They make dinner reservations, never blinking an eye - though visions of being flaked out in front of the tube watching ESPN dance through their heads. The bravest of the species even ventures into shops like Victoria’s Secret - and that thought always makes me laugh out loud. My utmost respect definitely goes to those poor lingerie clerks. Would YOU be able to keep a straight face when some guy walked up to you with a cute little thong on a hanger?

Cynics, of course, explain this phenomenon away, saying men are only doing what’s expected of them because they know there’ll be heck to pay if they don’t get their sweetie something for Valentine’s Day. And to those Nay Sayers, I say a big fat Pffffffft. On Valentine’s Day, Cupid simply won’t allow men to escape the undeniable power of love. Besides, if women could intimidate men into doing what we expect of them so easily, they’d be our dream guys all year long.

And speaking of dream guys - February is going to be magical for me this year for another reason other than Valentine’s Day. My first single title romantic comedy from Warner Forever -- DREAM GUY -- hits the shelves February 1st.

SO, (hint, hint) if you enjoy love with a little laughter - and if you DON’T have your heart set on that cute little thong - I’d sure be tickled if you casually mentioned to your honey that in addition to the chocolate, the roses, and the dinner reservations, he might add to his list a quick stop by your favorite book store to pick up a copy of DREAM GUY.

Happy February - and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day everyone!
